Watching the tide

It’s like watching a tide go out. A tidal wave of sadness, to realize there’s a slow regression, a single, signal retreat of what you thought you had. What you once held and thought was secure, to realize it is anything but.

May as well try to hold onto a strike of lightning. All you will have to show for it is a scorched hand and pain to remind you. Be it a job, a friendship, a love. Those are the worst. To be able to see it going, and feel powerless to stop it. ~drb
